Formally known under the musical alias Attaque (who garnered high praise for last Autumn's LP ON LY OU), November's heartbreaking events in Paris led the Essex-born producer Dominic Gentry to create the entirely new moniker, Light Falls. Despite this recent shift, the substance of Gentry's artistry is as beguiling and profound as ever. 'Dusk' is the first offering here and much like James Blake’s elixir of cryptic intelligence, it excels in its heightened carving of creativity. A palette of robust techno strokes, futuristic throbs and brooding electronics fuse to form quivering walls of sound. An Abbey Road-mastered EP complete with a live audio-visual show is set to drop soon, and with sonic intricacy this sincere, 'Dusk' promises to be a visionary and pioneering first step of many. -LB
